An early end to the season

I guess I knew it was coming, but I didn't want to admit it.  I need to close down the garden. Hubby is getting his PhD and job searching.  Our lease ends July 20th.  Well, I wasn't completely sure it was coming.  We had planned to stay in town (but a different apartment) for a few more months while job searching, but the search has been drastically hastened, since he lost his other job. (Thank you, economy...)  We have no choice but to find a job that starts this August, and it is 99% certain that the new one won't be in Kansas.
So, though we don't know where we're going yet, we have to plan for an out-of-state move in only one month and ten days.  That means getting rid of all my plants.  It's for that reason that I haven't planted the warm-weather plants.  I'm letting the current set of plants do what they want, using what I can, and making reluctant plans to get rid of everything somehow.
I'll post a few more entries on this blog, and then put it on hold until I start my next garden, wherever and whenever that works out to be.

  1. Hey Abigail! If you move anywhere in Southern California, shoot me an email. A friend of mine and I are starting a vegetable growing group, and it would be awesome if you could join us!

  2. Oh that would be awesome! We haven't found any openings in California, though both of us would love to live there (at least for the climate). Will keep you posted though! :D
